The Living Oracle
A downloadable game
An alternate take on the typical oracle systems in solo rpgs, giving a more narrative answer to the questions being asked.
The answers were created as a way of combining the results of a magic 8-ball with the usual 'yes', 'no', 'and' or 'but' answers of most rpg oracles.
01-08 give the 'no, and' results, 33-40 give the 'no, but' results.
45-56 give uncertain results, triggering an interrupt in the game that delays the answer.
61-68 give the 'yes, but' results and 93-00 give the 'yes, and' results.
A few examples:
"Is the room empty?
(73) "It is certain."
"Do I see a way down from the window?"
(100) "Yes, and... it looks like a newly installed fire escape."
"Is there a can of gas in the garage?"
(57) "Outlook good, however... it's only half full."
"Is the key in the car?" (Very Unlikely -25)
(32-25=7) "My sources say no, and... you trigger an alarm."
I've used this in my games, and I hope that someone else may find use for it in theirs.
Thanks for looking!
Note: I updated the back image to bring the chances of uncertain results down from 20% to 12%.
